Why else would he say such a boneheaded thing?
The chocolate comment alienated everyone, black and white. He apologized, but the damage is done.
It did make for a lot of good jokes, though.da po' boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13639638708282388176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15755953.post-1137556082698585822006-01-17T21:48:00.000-06:002006-01-17T21:48:00.000-06:00So many things to say about the one breakdown rule...So many things to say about the one breakdown rule:
1)Better rule: Speeches and prepared statements get less slack than answers to questions or off the cuff comments
2)Might not have been a breakdown, but the WWL interview (no more goddamn...) followed by the backtrack to blame Blanco on Meet the Press comes close
3)The message that N.O. wants all its citizens back was correct. The choice of words was based on the fact that his two main declared opponents are white. Do you really think he would have said that if he were facing two black opponents?

Nagin started to lose me when he cynically (I thought) changed from blaming Bush to blaming Blanco. I thought he was being equally cynical yesterday. Maybe I'm just too cynical.bayoustjohndavidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03949531682454923206noreply@blogger.com
